she's his wife not a servant as they depict.
secondly... one should know the meaning of term 'Wife' as per few thousand years ago.. It is totally different from today's modern day wife who, if did not get her share of sense gratification, would sue the husband and divorce him and take as much money from him as possible..lol XD
husband wife relationship in those ancient days were much more than just some physical or mental sense gratification..it was more of a responsibility and sense of service.. The husband was also caring, loving and would stick to one wife (exception are the true kshatriya of that time) not like a typical male nature of 21st century, who can not even properly look after one woman.. and lust after many..lol!
So now.. wife's main responsibility and duty was to serve the husband and to keep him always pleased.. in this way she aided the husband in his spiritual practices and in turn would get the spiritual share of her husband without endeavoring. So, the main theme is service.. a dasi.. you might call.. but the relationship is of husband wife.. not just ONLY dasi..
if you want any detailed information in regards to how the etiquette is in terms of scriptures.. please feel free.. i can write essays.. not just based on my fanatical ideas.. but based on historical facts from the puranas and the vedas.
that is the reason why Lakshmi devi is ever blissful serving the lord by massaging His feet.. there is no pain for Her... It is we who try to fit in our conception of a slave and depict it in Their relationship..
even in this world.. if one truely loves another.. what pains is he not willing to take to please the beloved.. (maybe u have yet to go through it
i m not trying to prove my expertise in such matters..but its quite simple, common sense i might say..
the joining of the divine couple is not some mundane thing of this world.. and one can, most certainly, not comprehend with his or her limited perception and intellect that which is infinite and unborn.. ^__^
I pray that you might get some opportunity to dive deep into the spiritual significance which Bhagwatam and Gita has to offer.. and after possessing such knowledge one is in better position to begin to understand the eternal couple and their pastimes.. ^__^
